Mine History and Facts
Discovered in 1925 and first mined in 1929.
Located north of Carlin, Nevada, in the Lynn mining district. Yielded some of the largest turquoise nuggets in history, including a massive 150-pound specimen. The site is now closed to turquoise extraction and is actively mined for gold, making existing old-stock stones finite and valuable.
Appearance and Identification
Color: Ranges from soft, pale sky blue to deep, dark blue, occasionally with subtle green tints. Dark blue shades are exceptionally rare.
Matrix: Features an intricate, web-like pattern (spiderweb) in colors from golden-brown, red, and chocolate to stark black.
